Hi all,

currently I am working on a concept to integrate competitive groups into Knew The News

These would allow to compete among a limited group of members, for a limited time frame, on either a limited scope of markets.

Ideas of competitions:
Who predicts the DJIA movement best during October?
Who predicts best on (enter sports league here) during the current season?

Competitions would be among a group of users who start off with the same amount of money, which is a budget separated from the global profile and only available to predict within the competition.

The markets used within the competition would evolve separately from the public instance of the market, having different percentages eventually.

To predict on competition markets, one would switch into the competition group, which would in turn be visualized by a modified appearance of the Knew The News site, probably replacing the rotating globe by a competition icon and using a different color scheme. In this mode, only markets included in the competition would be available.

Let me know your ideas on this!

Replies:

Setting up competitions would not be allowed for regular users. To start it, competitions would be created by admins and super users.

Participation in competitions could be limited to invitation or application, to enable competitions among a group of colleges or real-life friends apart from the Knew The News global community. This aspect could make the competition idea especially interesting for external organizations which could use Knew The News internally.

Not being a member of these elite groups, i will not vote for or against it, but it seems like a neat idea. Wish you luck in it. You have a very creative mind, and hopefully this will become something of widespread use!! Good luck, ken

I am not involved with any kind of gambling sites, so i do not know what things they do, but it seems ideally suited for such groups..
