Lib Dem Brian Paddick saw his vote collapse and he was beaten into fourth place by Green Jenny Jones, with independent Siobhan Benita fifth.

Background

It is relatively uncontroversial to say the first two places will be won by the candidates of the two largest parties in England. But who will be "best of the rest"?

Normally it would be the Liberal Democrat but that party's national fall in popularity since entering into a coalition government may open the third place up to other parties.
