After seven weeks of waltzing through the Western Conference and to within one win of the Stanley Cup, the Los Angeles Kings have arrived at their biggest challenge to date in the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The New Jersey Devils defeated the Kings 2-1 on Saturday night, and have now won two straight contests against Los Angeles. That is as many losses as the Kings had while accruing 15 of the 16 necessary victories to claim the Cup.

If because he does it so well that means people are going to fawn over all of the spectacular saves he makes at key times in big wins, well that's just fine and he'll take the accolades. It still doesn't change him or his approach, which is just to be there for his teammates when they need him most, like in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final when his team was already in a 0-3 hole.

The Kings' 4-0 victory against New Jersey in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final was the 15th of the 16 they need to bring the Cup to L.A. for the first time in franchise history. At 15-2 through 17 games, they've tied the 1988 Edmonton Oilers for the best mark ever at this stage of the playoffs -- and they became the first team since the playoffs went to an all best-of-seven format in 1987 to take a 3-0 lead in all four rounds.

The Devils were far better in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final than they were in Game 1, but there was still one problem with their performance Saturday night.

The Los Angeles Kings were again better by a goal.
