Former pop star Gary Glitter has been arrested on suspicion of sex offences by police investigating the Jimmy Savile abuse claims.

The Metropolitan Police said that Glitter was arrested at 7:15 this morning on suspicion of sexual offences, and had been taken into custody at a London police station.
