Winning option:Nominated and approved Sen. John Kerry was easily confirmed by the Senate Tuesday to become the next secretary of state, installing the first key member of President Barack Obama’s national security team in his second term.
The vote was 94-3, with Kerry voting present. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Texas Republicans John Cornyn and Ted Cruz voted no.
