Winning option:Yes Sony has unveiled the PlayStation 4. But, we still didn't get to see what it looked like.

The PlayStation 4 was formally announced at an event in New York City. At least we know the name is definite. As for its features, the details came out eventually.

Background

Sony posted a teaser trailer on its Playstation blog, and it has the Internet talking. It’s not unusual for video game companies to make fantastically dramatic teasers, but there’s something different about this one. There’s the language: “see the future,” the imagery that conjures up nothing more specific than the Playstation brand itself, the fact that we’re in a general atmosphere of constant next-gen rumors and more.

Is Sony to announce the Playstation 4 in three weeks?



If that is the case, then the video game world is about to get a lot more interesting. It would mean that Sony would start announcing a slew of next-gen titles while Microsoft waits to acknowledge the existence of its console.

If Sony moved right now, it would have a few months to build momentum ahead of E3, as well as the spotlight all to itself for a few months. Whatever happens, there’s a lot of chatter about the next Playstation just now, so if that’s not what Sony announces come February 20th, it’ll have a problem.
