Predictions
Background
UEFA is considering the introduction of a ‘Nations League’ competition as part of its long-running efforts to boost the appeal of national team football, according to reports.
The UK’s Guardian newspaper said the proposal of using existing dates in the international calendar for friendly games to launch a new league involving all 54 member nations was one of a number of ideas discussed at UEFA’s Executive Committee meetings last month. The proposal, first reported by Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet, could be implemented from 2018 and would feature UEFA member associations being divided into as many as nine divisions based on their recent results.
