Background

Taco Bell said today that it is launching a national advertising campaign to let consumers know that it has not changed products, ingredients or advertising despite what an Alabama-law firm claimed when it withdrew a lawsuit against the popular food chain.

The advertising copy of the campaign asks Alabama law firm Beasley Allen: "Would it kill you to say you're sorry?"

The law firm filed a class action suit against Taco Bell questioning the meat filling in the tacos.

However, the firm withdrew the suit on Tuesday, claiming that it did so after Taco Bell made changes to its marketing and product disclosure.

But Taco Bell that there have been no changes to the product or advertising and are asking Beasley Allen to set the record straight.

"We stand behind the quality of every single one of our ingredients, including our seasoned beef, and we want consumers to know that we didn't change our marketing or product because we've been completely transparent," Taco Bell CEO Greg Creed said in a statement.

The ad is hard-hitting bluntly claiming that Beasley Allen "brought false claims about our product quality and advertising integrity" and voluntarily withdrew their lawsuit.

The ad states that no changes to product, ingredients, and advertising were made.

In addition it states no money was exchanged and there was no settlement agreement.

"We've ALWAYS used 100 percent USDA-inspected premium beef," says the ad. "Sure, they could have just asked us if our recipe uses real beef. Even easier they could have gone to our website where the ingredients in every one of our products are listed for everyone to see."

As far as that apology, Taco Bell taunts the law firm: "C'mon, you can do it!"
