The 2011 United States Open Championship, the 111th U.S. Open, will begin on June 16 and end on June 19.
2011 will be the third time the U.S. Open will have been played at Congressional Country Club. The last time was in 1997 when Ernie Els won his second major championship, finishing at −4, a stroke clear of Colin Montgomerie. The only other U.S. Open held at Congressional was played in 1964 with Ken Venturi beating Tommy Jacobs by four shots.
About half the field each year consisted of players who are fully exempt from qualifying for the U.S. Open.
