voided voided by Super Userkruijs: Void: An attempted sale of online video website Hulu has fallen through after months of difficult and complex negotiations between owners such as Walt Disney Co and potential buyers.

Hulu's owners, which also include News Corp , Comcast Corp's NBC Universal and Providence Equity, said in a statement on Thursday they had decided against a sale of the video service.

Background

Bids for Hulu are due on Wednesday from a collection of tech and satellite giants -- with Yahoo, Google, Amazon and DirecTV among the likely contenders.

Hulu is expected to draw bids of between $1 billion to $2 billion. A person familiar with the negotiations told TheWrap that early reports that bids might go as low as $500 million seemed off-base and that they could not imagine a deal getting done at that price.

The Hulu sale continues, but one potential buyer has dropped out of the race. DirecTV is gone from the proceedings, having submitted too low of a bid for purchasing the streaming online video service.

Who's left? Allegedly Amazon, Yahoo, and DirecTV competitor Dish Network. With bids allegedly hovering around the $1.5 to $2 billion dollar range in the sale, which kicked off this past June, Amazon remains the favorite to pull in the service.
