Knew The News: Website Launch

As of December 1st, 2010, Knew The News went public.

What is Knew The News?

Knew The News is a free community driven news prediction site, based on the Hansons Market Maker algothms. Using a virtual currency, members make predictions on the outcome of news events by buying stakes on different outcome options. By doing so, the value of the outcome options vary, and represent the anticipated occurrence of the specific outcome.

In other words: The wisdom of the crowd form the forecast of an event to happen.

How To Play

The specific upcoming news event is typically phrased as a question, and the outcomes are the associated, possible answers. Using portions of their virtual cash, people buy positions on those answers they think are likely to happen. On settlement of the question, those players which made the correct prediction will be awarded even more virtual money.

If you want to learn more about how predictions are made on Knew The News, please take a look at the Tour.
